I absolutely love this cover. It’s definitely not a typical YA cover, and in fact I think it’s meant to fit in on an adult fantasy shelf, but I still love it as a YA cover. And it’s doing several YA things correct:

1. Girl’s face, really big.

2. Abstract even though it is a depiction of a girl (the swirls on her dress and in her hair are really cool).

3. The font is suitably fantasy and YA at the same time.

But as I said before, this cover is definitely meant to blend in on an adult fantasy shelf. It’s going to stand out on YA shelves however, and that’s a good thing.
